What is 1237 West?

It’s a high-quality Lincoln Park community designed with Chicago professionals, college students and recent graduates in mind. 1237 West features a variety of spacious, furnished apartments plus a full set of community features such as a clubroom, fitness center and more.

Is 1237 West open to students?

Yes. Many residents at 1237 West are students at area colleges and universities such as DePaul, Loyola and UIC, and the per-person contracts are designed to be convenient for student residents. Nonetheless, 1237 West is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes applications from both students and non-students. Family members are welcome as well, subject to occupancy limits. Because of the need to match student roommates, non-students will be assigned to apartments only with other non-students, except with consent of all residents of the apartment.

Is 1237 West affiliated with DePaul University?

1237 West is a privately owned and professionally managed community and is home to both students and non-students. Many students and recent graduates from DePaul, UIC, Loyola and other colleges and universities call 1237 West home, along with others attracted to the social lifestyle of the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?

You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other residents. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.

What are per-person contracts?

Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at 1237 West has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom.

What is included in the rate?

Each resident at 1237 West pays a flat rate plus a Utility/Amenity fee that includes:

  • Water/sewer
  • Electricity
  • Trash Removal
  • On-site laundry
  • Furnishings
  • 24-hour on-site management
  • Amenities — (fitness center, etc.)

What size are the apartments?

The spacious accommodations at 1237 West range from 2- to 4-bedroom with available private bathrooms.

Are the apartments furnished?

Yes, all apartments at 1237 West have a furniture package including a extra long twin bed, desk, chair and wardrobe in each bedroom, a sofa, storage unit, coffee table and two chairs in each living room. Plus, all residences include a – kitchen island with counter stools. To see a sample of the furniture and other finishes, please visit our model residences.

What occupancy dates are available?

1237 West offers both an annual term and various alternate contract term lengths of 3, 6 and 9 months. Please contact our staff for details.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. 1237 West also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. There is a convenience fee for one-time online payments, but automatic recurring payments are always free.

Can my student financial aid cover charges at 1237 West?

Your living costs at 1237 West can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at 1237 West. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.

What kind of safety and security are provided?

1237 West has fire sprinklers, and electronic locks plus individually locking bedroom doors. Community courtesy patrols are provided at select times. Management staff are also on-site 24×7 and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.

What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?

1237 West is a no-pets community. The community is smoke-free in all indoor areas. Guests are welcome at all times, they can check in with our 24-hour security guard.

Can I park my vehicle at 1237 West?

1237 West has an attached parking garage. Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis for an optional monthly charge.

What other transportation options will I have?

1237 West is just blocks from the Fullerton CTA Red/Brown/Purple train stop. There are also bus stops located just outside the community.
